Smiles Donates One Thousand Points to each Smiles Customer in Ishikawa for Earthquake Relief

Smiles donate points customers Ishikawa earthquake relief

Tokyo, Japan, January 29, 2024 - After receiving positive responses from customers following the one million Japanese yen donation to Ishikawa Prefecture’s earthquake relief fund, Digital Wallet Corporation (DWC), owner and developer of the number one global mobile money transfer service in Japan, Smiles Mobile Remittance, decided to take a step further by donating one thousand Smiles Loyalty Points (equivalent to one thousand Japanese yen) to each Smiles customer residing in Ishikawa.

On New Year’s Day 2024, Ishikawa Prefecture experienced a 7.6M earthquake, drawing global attention and instantly receiving mass support. Digital Wallet Corporation immediately took action to help local and international communities recovering from the aftermath.

With heartbreaking news constantly flowing in from Ishikawa, DWC and its Smiles Team have been keeping a close eye on the community, with a special focus on the Smiles customers.

The need for aid continues as the Ishikawa community works towards recovery. As of January 25, 2024, the Japanese Red Cross Society reported 233 confirmed deaths, 19 people missing and over a thousand injuries. More than 15 thousand homes were either collapsed or damaged.

“Recognizing the struggles of the Ishikawa community, we hope the extra donation will help our customers stay at ease while they support their loved ones back home and recover from the earthquake,” said DWC Founder and CEO Eiji Miyakawa.

Smiles Mobile Remittance customers living in Ishikawa Prefecture can expect to receive their Smiles Loyalty Points on February 1, 2024. If accounts do not reflect the donation, please contact the customer support team.
